A recipe for implementing blogs in your organisation or institution

foodWhen you’re implementing or planning on implementing blogs in your organisation or institution there are a few things that one should always be prepared for and a few steps that will ensure your guests are delighted by your suave, sophisticated and thoughtful presentation. Step inside the blogsavvy kitchen for a quick demonstration of how you might do it for very little indeed. Ready, steady, blog :o)

Ingredients

First up you’re going to need a helping or two of examples / case studies to charm those that make the decisions in your delightful organisation or institution. For you education minded folks out there I’d recommend a dash of Warwick, some UPEI and a sprinkle of EAC & for those of you in the business world a sprinkle of Sun, two tablespoons of GM and half a cup of Macromedia.

After that you’re going to want to pop to the shops to pick up some of those latest in season corporate/ institutional blogging policies. Around this time of year netting yourself a little Feedster and Ray Ozzie could be nice as could a spot more Sun with a touch of delightful Charline Li as an overviewing-garnish.

Finally you’ll be looking for the main course. Now, with this particular ingredient you could consider either going to a commercial outlet or taking the more risky (but obviously more exciting/rewarding) option of hunting and preparing the beast yourself. In your local commercial district an old favourite is still the ingenious if a little clunky Manila or you might want to consider the rather more cultured Moveable Type… depending on your palate. Perhaps the most prized catch, however is the speedy WordPress MultiUser (offspring of the easily captured yet delicious WordPress) and many people have been quite happy with bagging a pLog or Roller as well.

Now that you’ve got the basics it never hurts to have on hand a good elevator pitch, some useful explanations and, if you’re feeling flash, a blog consultant is an excellent apperatif :o)

Steps

So as you’ve collected the ingredients, buttered up the management and kneaded the budget you’ll find that all you need to proceed is a good working top consisting of a nice clean recent version of PHP, plenty of MySQL databases and a loose adherence to the following steps:

1. Take the case studies and policies, place them all in a large bowl, whisk with industrial strength focus group for at least 2 days and find consensus on purpose, policy and model.

2. Prepare the oven to approximately 2500F and roast a couple of the beasts of your choice at an initial blazing temperature for approximately a week. Following this reduce heat and allow to bake more slowly to allow for the juices to settle and for some decent evaluation to take place. Select one of the joints to serve.

3. This particular dish needs an exceptionally well prepared table and at this point you need to give some serious attention to preparation of both the cutlery and the settings. A table evangelist who is capable of identifying and recruiting a small group of initial diners is preferable here.

4. With this initial setting it’s very important that the evangelist and other chefs model table manners, approaches and ways in which the meal might be consumed. It is, however, equally critical that the diners be engaged to provide feedback to inform the chef of how the larger sitting might work.

5. After this has taken place it is advised that only organic ingredients should then be used. Artificial fertiliser is contaminating and force-feeding the animals plain wrong so rather than an entire sitting beginning at once it is advised that the blog evangelists, chefs and initial diners invite other guests to the setting and that a pleasant dinner atmosphere is thus created and sustained.

Afterword

While this preparation is certainly to be followed with great care by inexperienced chefs it is by no means out of the reach of any ambitious or energetic plongeur. Consequently, you are invited to both adapt, improvise are recommend in the space below techniques, approaches and ingredients which you think might add spice, flavour or substance to the recipe. Thankyou :o)

It seems as if all ends are covered on this blog. My wishes are that if I ever get to the point that I myself can implement a blog that it will cover such a wide array of questions. As I read through the postings here I wondered how hard it might be to start a blog. Then I got to this one. Of course with all the other useful information about blogging, it was rather foolish of me not to expect even more. For an adolescent education graduate, I am happy that I got my first taste of blogging from such a formidable source.
