Would you prefer blogsavvy provided full RSS feeds? Answer: Yes

Update: Yes, I definitely get the message, and am wondering why I did extracts in the first place, full feeds full on from here on in! Thanks for all the comments!!!

This is just a quick straw poll:

Would you like blogsavvy to provide full RSS / Atom feeds?

Am starting to wonder if there’s any real benefit from providing limited feeds, would you particularly like to receive full feeds or don’t you care?

Thanks for taking the time to comment!

    As I stated elsewhere:

I use FeedOnFeeds for my blog reading. I do so because it lets me configure the style of the output to a manner that I find pleasing. … Many bloggers use dinky little fonts with little contrast from the background. If you want me read your content, why do you take such pains to make it illegible?

But more than just that, the sheer convenience of reading all my feeds in one go can’t be beat. If I’m going to leave the comfort of my aggregator to go read your site, it had really better be worth it for me. As such, excerpt-only feeds are usually a real turn-off for me, because the excerpts generally give no real indication as to what the real content of the post might be. Excerpts are usually the first X words or characters of the post — traditionally all “fluff” lead-in material.
The notable exception to this is Ars Technica, who manually construct meaningful summaries of their posts that give me enough salient information to decide if I want to read the entire article.

In short, if you don’t offer full-text feeds, I won’t subscribe.

There are only two reasons why tolerate your insolent use of limited feeds and that is because you have amazing content, great teaser intros, but I generally am more drawn to full, rich-media, content. Sometimes I do gloss over ProBlogger more oft than if it were the who enchilada.

I’m OK with either, but if you provided both I’d definitely subscribe to the full feeds.

In general I prefer to get the full text in the rss feed. As a dialup user it often takes too long to go and read everything on websites, especially graphic intensive ones.

Any blog using excerpts had better make sure the excerpt tells me explicitly what the post is about. Too many blog posts just waffle for the first paragraph or two.

I haven’t been reading BlogSavvy long enough to comment specifically.

James, full text please. Why? Because I skim read all feeds and your excerpts get missed only today I was reading back through your site and thought “I have missed all this great info”, mainly becuase the first 3 lines did not grab me but there was very interesting and relevant content further down.

    Email registrations

It seems James Farmer has the same issues as I have around having to register to get access to information on a web site.

Ok for a commercial entity I understand registering the first time but everytime is a bit much, and a not for profit the ques…
